Ammon News - Chairman of Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Dr. Fares Breizat, on Sunday received American tycoon Todd Boehly, CEO of Eldridge Industries and owner and chairman of Chelsea FC, and his accompanying delegation.
Touring the archaeological site in Petra, the delegation witnessed a number of local experiences in the region.
During the visit, Breizat briefed the delegation on Petra's history as a world heritage site and one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
Breizat also reviewed the PDTRA's plans to organize and develop tourism within the region, mainly steps to developing cultural tourism experiences.
Breizat noted this vision is based on heritage of Petra Bedouins, which was included in the Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage and introduction of new tourism experiences, primarily religious tourism, as well as adventure and meditation services.
PDTRA is working to develop an "appropriate" infrastructure to host sporting events, mainly marathons, adventure sports, climbing, long trails and four-wheel drive vehicles, which contributes to enhancing the visitor experience and attracting sports enthusiasts from all over the world, he pointed out.
Presenting Petra's avialable investment opportunities, he especially referred to the field of high-quality tourist resorts that target specialized luxury tourism that attracts specific travelers to the ancient city and "unique" cultural experiences.
