Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The State Security Court (SSC) on Sunday refused to release Muhammad Sneid, spokesperson of the day-laborers fired from the Ministry of Agriculture, and rejected the motion submitted to release him on bail, Sneid's lawyer Faisal Batayneh said.
Hundreds of Madaba residents and the tribes of Bani Hamidah had sent a letter to King Abdullah II asking him to interfere for Sneid's release.
Sneid was arrested last Monday after he walked into a lecture given by Minister of Agriculture, Saeed Masri, and had allegedly insulted the minister.
Police arrested Sneid, as eye witnesses reported to 'Ammon News' that Sneid was beaten by police during the arrest.
Sneid's case was transferred to the State Security Court with charges of unlawful assembly and resisting security personnel.
The letter sent to the King also called for the King's intervention in finding justice for Sneid and his day-laborer colleagues who were fired from the Ministry of Agriculture, and called for allowing them to return to their jobs.
