Scattered rain showers expected, frost warning until end of week

10-02-2025 08:01 AM

Ammon News - Temperatures across the Kingdom are forecast to remain below seasonal averages in the coming days, with cold weather, cloud cover, and intermittent rainfall expected in various regions, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department.

On Monday, temperatures will be 3-4 C lower than usual for this time of year. The weather will be cold and partly to mostly cloudy in most areas, while the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba will experience relatively cold conditions.

Light to moderate rain showers are expected intermittently in the north and center, as well as in limited areas in the east and southwest. In the early morning, precipitation over high mountain peaks may briefly mix with snow but is not expected to have a significant impact. Winds will be moderate westerly, occasionally becoming active, with precipitation weakening by evening.

The Meteorological Department has issued warnings about the risk of frost formation in the early morning over high southern mountains and parts of the Badia, as well as reduced horizontal visibility due to low clouds touching the surface in mountainous areas.

Citizens are advised to wear warm clothing as temperatures are expected to drop significantly, potentially falling below freezing at night and in the early morning, especially in high-altitude regions.

On Tuesday, a slight increase in temperatures is expected, but conditions will remain cold across most areas and relatively cold in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Clouds will appear at different altitudes, with moderate northwesterly winds.

By Wednesday, a slight drop in temperatures is expected, and the Kingdom will gradually be affected by unstable weather conditions in the afternoon. Clouds will increase, and rain showers will develop in the north, center, and parts of the east. Some showers may be accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail. Winds will be moderate westerly, sometimes becoming active.

On Thursday, another slight decrease in temperatures is forecast. The weather will remain cold and partly cloudy in most areas, while the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba will experience relatively cold conditions. Light and scattered rain showers are possible in the morning in northern and central regions. Winds will be moderate to active westerly, with strong gusts occasionally causing dust storms in eastern areas.

Maximum and minimum temperatures for Monday are expected as follows: Eastern Amman (9 C - 4 C), Western Amman (7 C - 2 C), Northern Highlands (5 C - 2 C), Sharah Mountains (6 C - -2 C), Badia regions (12 C - 1 C), Plains (10 C - 3 C), Northern Jordan Valley (16 C - 8 C), Southern Jordan Valley (20 C - 11 C), Dead Sea (18 C - 10 C), and Gulf of Aqaba (19 C - 9 C).
