'Stay humble' - Mohamed Salah sends clear Liverpool title message after Bournemouth heroics

02-02-2025 01:41 PM

Ammon News - Mohamed Salah says Liverpool must "stay humble" after his heroics in Bournemouth moved the Reds nine points clear at the top of the Premier League title. The Egyptian scored twice at the Vitality Stadium to give Liverpool a significant advantage before second-placed Arsenal host Manchester City on Sunday.

Salah helped Liverpool lift the title in 2020 but he admits there is a different feel to this chase as the Reds compete with Mikel Arteta's Gunners rather than Pep Guardiola's all-conquering City team.

And while the Reds have taken control in the fight to lift the title, Salah says they cannot get too carried away just yet with 15 games still to play and some more difficult fixtures to overcome.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "I think slightly different but last season we were also very close to that number [of points] but again, as I’ve said before, we need to stay humble and just take it each game at a time.

"Focus on each game – we don’t have to think further, just think about each game.”

And after scoring his 20th Premier League goal for a fifth time, he said: "It feels good to be fair! Scoring goals, team winning, it’s an incredible feeling. But I said it many times before that my main target this season is to win the Premier League with the team.

"We are going in the right direction so hopefully we can keep going like this.” Liverpool Echo
