World Bank disburses $88 million for project supporting digital transformation in Jordan

Ammon News - The World Bank has disbursed $88 million under the 'Citizen-Oriented Digital Government' program, which supports Jordan’s efforts towards digital transformation, improving public service delivery, increasing government effectiveness, and enhancing transparency and accountability.

The program, which was approved in April 2024, comes with a total financing of $321 million as a loan and $29 million as a grant from the Global Concessional Financing Facility.

According to bank data reported by Al-Mamlaka, the program officially entered into force on June 27, 2024 after the appointment of a program manager, and witnessed the implementation of major reforms, including the adoption of amendments to the Access to Information Law of 2007, the Public Services Management and Governance Regulations, and the National Statistics Bill.

In detail, the bank disbursed $81 million, or 25.5% of the total loan, in addition to $7.25 million of the grant, equivalent to 25% of its value, while $240 million of the loan and $21.7 million of the grant remain in the project, which is expected to be closed by June 30, 2028.
