Senate Palestine Committee welcomes Gaza ceasefire agreement

Ammon News - The Senate's Palestine Committee on Thursday welcomed the prisoner exchange and ceasfire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which was announced on Wednesday evening.

In a statement, the committee said: "Israel's war of extermination and starvation over the past 15 months has left behind tragic and catastrophic conditions."

The committee also praised "the Kingdom's official and popular position in rejecting the Israeli repeated aggression and violations against the Palestinian people and Jerusalem's Islamic holy sites and supporting rights of the Palestinian people since the first day of the aggression on Gaza."

The committee renewed its support for the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, in standing by the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights to establish their state and stop the aggression.

Jordan was the first country to break the siege on Gaza and had a "remarkable" presence and efforts on all international platforms to to halt aggression against Palestinian people, the statement pointed out.

The committee noted the agreement is the "first step in the right direction," stressing the importance of mobilizing all efforts to ensure its continuity and sustainability, preserve unity of the Palestinian territories and ensure the safe entry of the necessary humanitarian aid.

The committee expressed hope that the Palestinian people will establish their independent state on pre-June 5, 1967 territories. Petra
