Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi said on Tuesday that Jordan supports efforts to reach an agreement that would lead to stopping the aggression on Gaza, amid talk of reaching a ceasefire agreement soon.
During a joint press conference with his Danish counterpart at the Foreign Ministry headquarters, Safadi added that the position of Jordan and Denmark is consistent with regard to supporting the efforts made to reach an exchange agreement that leads to stopping the aggression on Gaza, and allows sufficient space to deal with the humanitarian disaster caused by the Israeli aggression, and to send sufficient, practical, rapid and immediate aid to the Gaza Strip to overcome the nightmare and the unprecedented humanitarian disaster that the people of Gaza are still suffering from and its consequences.
Safadi stressed that Jordan's contacts did not stop to emphasize the need to support UNRWA to ensure the continuation of its work.
The Minister also expressed his hope that there would be good news confirming the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, noting that Israel is still placing obstacles in the way of sending aid to Gaza.
He pointed out that today's meeting touched on developments in Syria, and that Jordan and Denmark's position supports a comprehensive transitional process in Syria that leads to rebuilding the country, in which Syrians enjoy security, stability and their full rights.
Syria is at the beginning of a new era, and Jordan has interacted with the new Syrian administration positively so far, Safadi said, noting that the new administration has confirmed its commitment to building Syria.
The danger of smuggling weapons and drugs from Syria still exists, and that the terrorist organization ISIS still exists in Syria and its threat is real, the Foreign Minister stated.
