Ammon News - Border Guard Forces engaged at dawn on Sunday and in the pre-noon hours with armed groups of smugglers who tried to cross the northern border of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan within the area of ​​responsibility of the Eastern Military Region.

The clashes resulted in the killing of one of the smugglers and the retreat of the rest into the Syrian interior, when the groups tried to cross the international border of the Kingdom, taking advantage of the unstable weather conditions and the spread of fog on the border front of the Eastern Military Region.

The rules of engagement were applied, and those groups were confronted and large quantities of narcotic substances were seized, in addition to two automatic weapons (Kalashnikov) and a pistol, and the seized materials were transferred to the competent authorities.

The clashes also resulted in the injury of a Border Guard officer, who was airlifted to the medical city and his general condition is good.

The Jordanian Armed Forces/ Arab Army affirm that they will continue to harness their various capabilities and potentials to prevent infiltration and smuggling by force to maintain the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
