Ammon News - Minister of Tourism Lina Annab, Patriarch of Jerusalem Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, and the Personal Envoy of His Holiness Pope Francis Cardinal Pietro Parolin are participating in the inauguration ceremony of the Baptism Church of Jesus Christ in Al-Maghtas on Friday.

More than 7,000 people are expected to attend the event in buses provided by the Jordan Tourism Board, and tents and screens are set up in the squares for worshipers.

The Director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media, Father Rifaat Badr, said that the event will have a global media impact, contributing to a religious tourism renaissance for the place, as it is considered the largest church in the world bearing the name of the Baptism.
