United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said that it is committed to supporting refugees voluntarily returning to Syria in different ways.
In addition to providing advice and information to all those who wish to return on different matters including challenges related to documentation, UNHCR is working on scaling up assistance including for transportation and logistics.
The UNHCR also confirmed that it does not currently provide any financial assistance to refugees who intend to return to Syria, but rather provides advice on return through the hotline to help refugees better understand the return procedures.
If one wishes to return to Syria, the process can be organized personally and one can go to the Jaber border crossing, which is currently operating from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, the UNHCR explained in statements.
The UNHCR noted that as soon as more details are available, it will share them with the community through our official channels.
