Ammon News - A Royal Jordanian Airlines plane departed on Tuesday for Damascus on a test flight, after air traffic resumed at Damascus International Airport.
Chief Commissioner of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Captain Haitham Misto, said that the flight is a test flight before the resumption of the Amman-Damascus line, and it comes as a message of support and solidarity to reactivate Syrian air navigation.
Misto, who was on board the flight accompanied by a technical team from the Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority, Royal Jordanian Airlines and a number of specialists, stated that the aim of the flight was to assess the technical condition of Damascus International Airport, which will be done within a short period.
He explained that the team that will stay in Damascus will work to ensure the airport's technical and logistical readiness to receive international flights, and that its operation will be within the framework of compliance with international civil aviation safety and security standards.
