Ammon News - French Egyptologists have uncovered a reburied Middle Kingdom sarcophagus in Luxor, dating back 4,000 years. The discovery, made on December 16 during the final moments of their two-month mission, was reported by La Croix.
Frédéric Colin, director of the Institute of Egyptology at the University of Strasbourg, shared with Milenio that the sarcophagus was found as he was preparing his end-of-campaign report and wrapping up site work. He described the find as "remarkable" for several reasons.
The excavation was a collaborative effort between researchers from the University of Strasbourg and the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology (IFAO). The most recent mission focused on gaining deeper insights into significant discoveries made in 2018 and 2019, Colin explained to Ámbito Financiero.
