Ammon News - On Saturday, the United States called on Iran to cease its attacks on Israel in order to end the cycle of violence, following the Israeli military's counterattacks on the Islamic Republic in response to a recent missile strike by Tehran.
US National Security Council spokesman Sean Savitt called on Tehran to stop its attacks on Israel in order to halt the ongoing fighting and prevent any further escalation.
On Saturday, the Israeli military conducted airstrikes on Iran, aiming at military bases, missile sites, and other defense systems in various regions of the country.
He further stated that Israel's reaction was defensive, avoiding civilians and targeting military sites only, in contrast to Iran's strike on Israel's largest city.
He emphasized that the United States was not involved in the Israeli strikes, emphasizing that "we aim to speed up the diplomatic process and reduce tensions in the Middle East."
An official from the senior administration revealed that President Joe Biden and his national security team at the White House have been collaborating with the Israelis to encourage a specific and appropriate reaction that minimizes the risk of harming civilians in recent weeks.
"The official informed reporters that it seems to be precisely what occurred based on what we witnessed this evening."
He stated that President Biden advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to come up with a plan that prevents future attacks on Israel and lowers the chances of escalating tensions, which is what they aim to achieve.
