King to deliver speech Tuesday at UN General Assembly

Ammon News - His Majesty King Abdullah II will deliver a speech at the opening session of the 79th session of the General Assembly, which begins Tuesday, in New York.

On the sidelines of the meetings, His Majesty the King held meetings with heads of state and heads of participating delegations, where His Majesty stressed that regional escalation requires urgent, unified international efforts to prevent a spillover of the conflict, and called for stopping the Israeli war on Lebanon.

The King reiterated the need to reach an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza as a basic requirement to stop escalation in the region, calling for increasing the flow of humanitarian aid to the Strip.

His Majesty warned of the continued Israeli attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank and violations of Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, noting that the region will remain hostage to violence and instability unless a political horizon is created to achieve just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution.

17 speakers will deliver speeches in the morning session on Tuesday:

President of the General Assembly, Philemon Yang (opening), Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, Brazil President, Lula da Silva, President of the United States of America Joseph Biden, Türkiye President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, then His Majesty Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, will deliver his speech, followed by Guatemala President, César Bernardo Arévalo de León, then Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and other leaders.

18 speakers will deliver their speeches in the evening session.
