Ammon News - Jordan on Wednesday condemned in the strongest terms Israel's assassination of Hamas leader and political bureau Ismail Haniyeh in the Iranian capital, Tehran, in violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and an escalating crime that will lead to more tension and chaos in the region.

Ambassador Sufian Al-Qudah, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, confirmed Jordan's firm position in rejecting the violation of state sovereignty and international law, and in condemning political assassinations, violence and terrorism, regardless of their motives.

Al-Qudah stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities and take immediate measures to impose a halt to the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Israel’s violations of international law and United Nations resolutions, and to protect the security and stability of the region from the disastrous consequences of the continued Israeli aggression on Gaza, and the escalation of its violations of the rights of the Palestinian people and its crimes against them.

Al-Qudah expressed Jordan's condolences to Palestine and its people, and to Haniyeh's family and his companion, may God have mercy on them.

The ministry's spokesperson also condemned the Israeli aggression on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Tuesday, and Israel's continued violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

He warned that these crimes would only lead to dragging the region towards expanding war and threatening regional and international security and peace.
