Ammon News - AMMAN - The top prosecutor at the State Security Court (SSC) on Tuesday reinstated a ban on news coverage of the ongoing corruption case related to the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (JPRC) expansion project.
SSC Attorney General Major General Yousef Faouri issued a circular banning the publication of any information concerning the case in terms of the investigation process, the persons involved in the case and the court proceedings without his express permission.
The SSC on Monday refused to release on bail three former officials and a businessman standing trial on charges of bribery and exploitation of public office in connection with the JPRC expansion project.
Faouri issued indictments last week for former chairman of the JPRC and former finance minister Adel Qudah, former JPRC director general Ahmad Rifai, the prime minister’s economic adviser Mohammad Rawashdeh and business tycoon Khaled Shahin, who was a bidder in the JPRC expansion project.
Qudah, Rifai and Rawashdeh were charged with bribery and exploitation of public office, while Shahin was charged with three counts of bribery and three counts of conspiracy to commit acts of exploitation of public office.
