14-05-2024 02:56 PM

Ammon News - The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities issued a report for the first quarter of 2024, which reviewed numbers and statistics related to tourism income, the number of tourists, and the priorities and expectations of 2024.

The report showed a 9.7% decline in the number of tourists, compared to the same period in 2023, when the number of tourists reached 1.334 million tourists.

The tourism sector’s revenues also decreased by 5.6% over the same period to record JD1.118 billion due to regional events in the region, according to the report.

"Despite these declines, the numbers of tourists and total revenues exceeded the targets of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities for the first quarter (by 10.5% for the number of tourists and 2.3% for tourism income), and the targets for the Ministry’s achievements from the first quarter of 2019, the year for global measurement of the sector’s performance," the report reveled.

It is noteworthy that this report is the starting point for the quarterly reports that the Ministry will commit to publishing successively every 3 months.
