Hunaifat told Ammon that the agricultural sector’s exports during the past year increased by JD158 million over the value of exports in 2022. The Agriculture Ministry succeeded in reducing imports and increasing exports through the protection it provided to the local product, in addition to increasing local production and achieving self-sufficiency, Hunaifat confirmed. This increase in exports and decrease in imports resulted in a hard currency savings worth JD850 million in the trade balance during 2023, he stated. He pointed out that the agricultural sector recorded the highest growth among sectors at 5.8% during the year 2023.
