Number of visitors to Petra declines by 82% in April

Ammon News - The number of visitors to Petra decreased by 82% in April 2024 compared to same period in 2023, according to statistics from the Petra Development Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA).

The statistics showed that the number of visitors to Petra during this month amounted to 25,702, compared to 146,687 visitors during April in 2023.

While the number of visitors to Petra during March 2024 decreased by 71% compared to March in 2023, and 66% in February 2024 compared 2023, and 68% in January 2024 compared to the last year.

In March, the number of visitors to Petra reached 41,231 visitors, 33,000 visitors in February, and 26,521 visitors in January.

The average occupancy rate in Petra hotels during last March was 12%, and 9% in February and January.

The decrease in visitor rates and hotel occupancy rates in Petra is due to the Israeli occupation’s aggression against the Gaza Strip, the PDTRA noted.
