29-02-2024 09:45 AM

Ammon News - The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) warned that very major problems would begin to arise in April if donor countries did not reverse the suspension of funding for the agency.

The UNRWA media advise, Adnan Abu Hasna, said that the agency was able to obtain some donations recently, which it paid February salaries, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

"Things will be fine in March...the UNRWA's operations will continue in March and there will be no interruption to the educational process or other relief operations," he stressed.

UNRWA's Communications Director, Juliette Touma, said that the agency was able to pay February salaries, and is examining how to pay March's salaries, confirming the continuation of UNRWA operations and the agency's schools work in Jordan during March.

Abu Hasna said that very big problems will begin to appear in April if the donor countries that stopped their contributions to UNRWA do not withdraw their contributions to UNRWA or do not obtain new funding from other donor countries.
