Returned checks in Jordan drop by 14.3% in January

Ammon News - The number of returned checks in Jordan decreased during January by 14.3%, to reach 18.7 thousand checks, compared to 21.8 thousand checks in December, Al- Mamlaka TV said according to the Jordan Payments and Clearing Systems Company (JoPACC).
The value of returned checks last January amounted to JD143 million, compared to JD164 million in December, a decrease of 12.6%, according to the statistics.
12,732 returned checks worth JD111 million in January were for financial reasons, while more than 5.9 thousand checks worth JD31.4 million were for technical reasons, as the percentage of checks returned for financial reasons reached 68.1% compared to 31.9% for technical reasons, the statistics added.
The number of checks in circulation in Jordan reached 537 thousand checks during last January, compared to 577 thousand checks in December with a decrease of 6.9%.
The value of checks traded during January amounted to JD3.35 billion, compared to JD4.44 billion in December, a decrease of 24.7%.
