Ammon News - The Finance Committee in the Lower House said, on Wednesday, that the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the West Bank affected the Jordanian tourism sector and its related sector by reducing the sector's performance results for the last quarter of last year by 90%.

The Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7, affected the public feeling of all citizens because they felt persecuted and attacked against brothers and Islamic and Christian sanctities, which negatively affected public consumption, the committee stated in its budget report.

The committee indicated that the committee’s study expected the tourism sector’s performance results for the fourth quarter to decline by 90% from the level of growth achieved in each of the first three quarters of last year, which recorded a growth of 37.7% last year.

Also, the committee indicated that the tourism income was affected by a value of JD850 million, which would have contributed to an increase in the gross domestic product to approximately 4% by the end of 2024.

Furtherly, the committee noted that tax revenues decreased by JD100 million at their minimum.
