Ammon News - Data issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities showed that the number of workers in the tourism sector as of the third quarter of last year reached 57,969 male and female workers, including 50,458 males and 7,511 females, distributed among more than 3,341 establishments, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.
The data showed that males hold 87.043% of job opportunities compared to females, whose share amounts to 12.957%.
Comparing the second and third quarters of last year, the growth rate of the number of workers in the tourism sector amounted to 1,412%, as until the second quarter there were 57,162 male and female workers, including 49,868 males and 7,294 females, distributed over more than 3,300 establishments.
The majority of workers, according to the data, are distributed in the capital, Amman, where their number reached 42,893 male and female workers, which constitutes 73.993% of the total number of workers, which amounts to 57,969.
The tourist restaurants sector occupies the largest percentage of the number of workers, which reached 23,017, followed by the hotel sector, which reached 20,120 male and female workers, while in the second quarter of last year the hotel sector occupied the largest percentage of workers.
Jordan's tourism income grew during the past ten months of last year 2023 by 34.7% compared to the same period last year, according to preliminary data from the Central Bank of Jordan.
