Ammon News - The United Kingdom announced earlier this year in a statement for the UK government that citizens of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain will be able to enter the United Kingdom for a fee of just £10 (US$12.4) to apply for an electronic travel authorization, which will allow them to visit the United Kingdom several times within two years.
Jordanians currently pay $124 (£100) for a visit visa and Gulf citizens pay $37 (£30) per visit to the UK under the current electronic visa (EVW) system, according to the statement.
This program was launched for Qatari citizens in October 2023, while for Jordan and the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, it will be launched in February 2024.
The statement also mentioned that the new Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system gives travelers digital permission for those visiting or transiting through the UK who do not require a short-stay visa or who do not currently hold another UK visa.
Britain's immigration minister Robert Jenrick had said that the scheme would make it easier and cheaper for Jordanians and citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to visit the United Kingdom.
“The cost of the ETA will be one of the best value in the world compared to similar international schemes.” he added, noting that: “This small additional cost for visitors will enable us to strengthen the security of the UK’s borders and keep our communities safe.”
