Ammon News - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi said that the Jordanian airdrop of medical and pharmaceutical aid to the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza required some coordination.

These supplies will not be sufficient for a long time due to the enormity of the humanitarian challenges in Gaza, and the international community must unite together to put pressure to deliver the necessary supplies to Gaza, Safadi explained in an interview with CNN from Brussels.

He confirmed the existence of a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, contrary to what the Israeli representative to the United Nations said that there is no humanitarian catastrophe, considering that “ if he does not see that, I can only explain this by saying it seems that he does not see Palestinians as humans, as he is talking about the entry of approximately 100 aid trucks to Gaza since the beginning of the war, when the daily average before the war was 500 trucks per day, and simply saying that there is no humanitarian disaster in Gaza indicates this person’s complete blindness to what is happening.”

In response to a question if Israel must acknowledge that what is happening in Gaza is a humanitarian catastrophe, Safadi said that we would like to see the acknowledgement translated into effective action on the ground, people are dying from the Israeli bombs, they also dying from the lack of water and medicine and the situation at hospitals is very dangerous, so if there is the acknowledgment would like to see that translated in real action that does even begin to address the catastrophic situation in Gaza.

He pointed out that since his arrival in Brussels, accompanied by His Majesty King Abdullah II, they have held meetings with the Belgium Prime Minister and the Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and noted that there are meetings on Tuesday in the European Union.

"Our message is clear and simple that this war in Gaza has to stop, a ceasefire is a must delivery of sufficient and sustained humanitarian supplies is a responsibility and human duty let alone legal obligation by Israel as an occupying power," Safadi noted.

"The only way out of this nightmare this catastrophe is to stop what is happening and the need of Gazans who have been suffering even before the war started to be addressed and then we all look at how we can get to a situation that what happened never happens again and that can only happens through a peace plan that guarantees freedom to the Palestinians to freedom and will address the Israeli concerns as well," he confirmed.
