Israeli politicians: Netanyahu 'crossed a red line'

29-10-2023 11:09 AM

Ammon News -

Israel's former Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi posted on Sunday on X, formerly Twitter, calling on Netanyahu to remove his tweet alleging that he had had no forewarning about a possible war with Hamas, adding "We are at war," according to the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid also took to X, formerly Twitter, writing "Netanyahu has crossed a red line," and "While IDF soldiers and commanders are fighting valiantly against Hamas and Hezbollah, he is trying to blame them instead of backing them up."

Labor Party Chair Merav Michaeli wrote that "While our children are eating battle rations in the Gaza Strip...Netanyahu sits sullenly in his office, with cigars and champagne, and blames the army commanders for the Simchat Torah disaster."

On Saturday night Netanyahu claimed he did not receive a warning about Hamas' intentions to start a war against Israel, and blamed the security agencies – particularly naming IDF military intelligence chief Aharon Haliva and Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar - for the failure that led to the attack on October 7.
