Ammon News - The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and the Iraqi Embassy in Jordan agreed to open the Iraqi Commercial Center at the Chamber’s headquarters before the end of 2023.
ACC's president, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, confirmed during his meeting with the Chargé d’Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, Munif Ali Hussein, that Iraq is considered a trade partner and an important artery for the national economy, which requires building new rules of cooperation between the two brotherly countries based on mutual interests to reach the desired economic integration.
The center will provide Jordanian companies with the opportunity to learn about Iraqi industries and agricultural products needed by the local market, which will reflect on the two countries’ trade exchanges and pave the way for building joint economic partnerships, Haj Tawfiq noted.
For his part, Hussein stressed the Iraqi government’s interest in opening the center at the Chamber’s headquarters before the end of this year, which will have a significant impact in promoting the commercial and investment opportunities available in the Iraqi economy and stimulating the Jordanian commercial sector to benefit from them.
It is noteworthy that national exports to Iraq amounted during the first half of this year to JD261 million, compared to JD74 million for imports.
