Ammon News - The Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) CEO Ezzeddin Kanakrieh, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) Mohammad Thneibat, on Sunday, convened in a significant meeting to discuss the strategic evolution of the mining sector.
This session brought together key figures from both entities and highlighted JPMC's intention to bolster the competitiveness of its products and introduce new projects within the mining domain.
Addressing the attendees, Kanakrieh emphasized the pivotal role of increased investment within the mining sector, emphasizing the potential for establishing value-added industries centered around mineral resources, which would subsequently enhance the value of the extracted raw materials.
As outlined in an official statement released by the SSIF, the meeting delved into JPMC's prospective strategies aimed at expanding investments across both the extraction and transformational facets of the mining industry. These blueprints encompass plans for producing primary raw materials and amplifying localized value addition for intermediate and final products. Notably, these endeavors include the expansion and development of the industrial port and complex, a venture that gained the attention of the Fund's head during his visit the previous month.
The SSIF’s strategic holdings encompass a diverse spectrum of significant companies within the mining sector. A key example is its substantial ownership stake of approximately 16.5% in JPMC, which stands as a global heavyweight, ranking as the second-largest provider of phosphates and the sixth-largest phosphate producer worldwide. Impressively, this enterprise maintains an annual production capacity exceeding 7 million tons of phosphate.
This high-profile meeting underscored the Fund's resolute strategy to cultivate and fortify its institutional relationships with the companies it invests in. This endeavor hinges on two fundamental pillars: direct communication with the management teams of these companies and a comprehensive assessment of their performance and future trajectories.
