Ammon News - Head of Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), Fathi Jaghbir, stressed importance of Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh's recent visit to Baghdad, heading a ministerial delegation, and comprised of the private sector's representatives.
Jaghbir also hoped the visit would contribute to increasing volume of joint trade exchange and strengthening the private sector's role in this field.
In a statement on Wednesday, Jaghbir said Jordanian and Iraqi sides discussed accreditation of conformity certificates mutually during the visit.
In this regard, he noted Iraqi official authorities required approval of international companies to inspect Jordanian factories to issue conformity certificates that allow exporting Jordanian industrial products to Iraq.
Jaghbir noted these companies charge "large" sums of money for issuing these certificates.
Jaghbir, who is also chairman of Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), referred to the agreement to establish a unified industrial chamber between Iraqi Federation of Industries (IFI) and Jordan Chamber of Industry.
This step, he said, aims to enhance joint cooperation and work to solve any problem facing Jordanian and Iraqi manufacturers, as well as exchanging visits of economic delegations and holding joint exhibitions.
Jaghbir lauded the government's efforts and Jordanian embassy in Iraq for their continuous follow-up on industrial issues, valuing endeavors made by Prime Minister and the accompanying government team to raise multiple issues with an economic dimension aimed to increase Jordan's exports to Iraq.
