PM, Iraqi Parliament Speaker agree on expanding relations

Ammon News - Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh met Tuesday with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi as part of a series of encounters he will hold with Iraqi leaders during his current visit to Baghdad.
The Prime Minister conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah to the Speaker and members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, stressing the deep-rooted, strategic and brotherly relations between Jordan and Iraq, and the Kingdom's keenness on further cementing cooperation in all fields "in a manner that serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples".
The Prime Minister said Jordan is also interested in promoting three-way cooperation with Iraq and Egypt, which would lead to broaden inter-Arab relations.
During the meeting, which was attended by Interior Minister Mazen Faraya, Khasawneh emphasized the security and stability of Iraq and the reconstruction process in the country, noting its key regional and international role.
The head of the Iraqi Parliament valued Jordan's support of his country in its efforts to achieve security and stability and proceed with reconstruction and development, stressing the strategic relations with the Kingdom.
The two men agreed on the importance of keeping channels open and holding more meetings between officials from the two countries to enhance relations in various areas and forge ahead with vital projects.
