PM, Iraq's President confirm depth of Jordanian-Iraqi relationship

Ammon News - President of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid received on Tuesday Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh to discuss ties and joint cooperation.

During the meeting, Khasawneh conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah II's greetings and hopes for the Iraqi President's continued good health, as well as His Majesty's aspirations for greater growth and prosperity for the Iraqi people.

He highlighted several Jordanian-Iraqi projects, including the economic zone, the industrial city, the development of the oil pipeline from Basra to Aqaba, and the transition of these projects from the planning to the implementation stage, whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt.

Khasawneh also underscored the importance of the private sector and the formation of the Jordanian-Iraqi Business Council in boosting trade and investment, expressing optimism in attaining favorable outcomes that both countries' populations will undoubtedly experience.

The Prime Minister praised Iraq's security and stability as a result of defeating terrorism and terrorist groups through the efforts of the Iraqi people and institutions, pointing to the two sides' agreement to strengthen their security cooperation within a regional framework that also extends to anti-narcotics efforts, which pose a real threat to the peoples of the two countries and the region.

Rashid, for his part, emphasized the deep ties that link Iraq and Jordan, underlining that Iraq's stability and security lend the way for progress in the development process and offers up opportunities for investment in many critical industries.

He also emphasized the significance of capitalizing on the two nations' successes in economic, trade, and investment spheres.
