Ammon News - An Iraqi delegation made a visit to the Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Sunday and looked firsthand at the Jordanian experience in water and sanitation management and means to enhance joint cooperation.
Rami Abu Rawaq, Acting Secretary General of the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ), stated that Jordan seeks to develop an effective partnership with Iraq in collaboration with international bodies in this field, particularly the European Union and Germany, praising the role of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in assisting the sector in building and strengthening capabilities in the comprehensive management of water resources.
Abu Rawaq highlighted the experience of managing the water sector in achieving development goals such as supplying clean drinking water and enhancing environmental reality through successful wastewater management and reuse, indicating that the authority is working through short, medium and long-term plans and programs to address the increasing pressures, climate changes, and the diminishing available water resources.
He pointed out that the sector was able, with the help of the international community, to achieve achievements, develop performance, automate a large number of procedures, and adopt monitoring systems for various water sources, expressing his appreciation to the German side for its support for the projects it implemented.
