Jordan, known for its various attractions and rich history, has always been a popular destination for tourists. The city of Aqaba in Jordan was included in the Times Magazine list of "The Great Places to Visit in the World" for the year 2023.
Recently, visitors to the Jordanian city of Petra, dubbed the "Red Rose City", enjoyed a multimedia show that combines dynamic light, music, and expressive narratives during the Petra Light Festival, which included an audio experience in the Siq of Petra and three-dimensional scans of the Treasury of Petra by local and international artists.
Jordan has long recognized the potential of its tourism industry as a major driver of economic growth, job creation, and cultural exchange. Thus, as part of its foreign policy, the country has actively promoted tourism as a means of reflecting international partnerships and promoting a positive image of Jordan abroad. The government has implemented a range of policies and initiatives to support the sector, including investment in infrastructure and the development of tourism products and experiences that showcase the country's unique history, culture, and natural beauty. As a result, tourism has become a major contributor to Jordan's overall economic growth and has helped support the standard of living for many segments of the country's local community.
National efforts in this area include the following:
Supporting a well-developed tourism industry capable of leveraging its comparative and competitive advantages; developing archaeological and tourism sites and resources to enhance the tourism product; facilitating transactions related to tourists in cooperation with the competent authorities and tourism organizations inside and outside the Kingdom; and providing them with comfort and care leading to extending the duration of tourist stays
Expand the role of the private sector in tourism investment, provide support for tourism companies and producers, and attract capital within the framework of joint cooperation between the public and private sectors; Upgrading the quality of tourism services to the highest international levels; developing tourism awareness of the Kingdom's culture, heritage, civilization, and archaeological resources within the framework of sustainable tourism development in coordination with local communities and non-governmental organizations
Strengthening the institutional structure of the tourism sector through the development of legislation, laws, regulations, and systems and the development of human resources; creating and leading marketing and promotion campaigns in international and regional markets; promoting international cooperation in this field and the conclusion of bilateral agreements; and promoting local tourism; Implement other competencies, such as providing many types of transportation and allowing better access to places.
Achieve higher tourism revenues and create new job opportunities and promotional executive programs; training programs for tour guides; management of professional associations; supervision of hotel standards; Studies and research in tourism Providing information to consumers Organizing investment, sponsoring, and working to provide manpower and technical capabilities necessary for tourism jobs to raise the level of performance and efficiency
Tourism is the main economic driver for many countries around the world and an important source of income for Jordan, with its rich cultural heritage and natural and cultural wonders. There is always scope for improvement and growth in this industry, creating unique experiences that highlight the country's wealthy history and authentic heritage and provide a deeper knowledge of Jordanian culture.
