Ammon News - Jordan has recently taken part in a high-level forum focused on combating human trafficking in the Middle East, with particular emphasis on addressing the issue during tourism seasons and sporting events. The conference wrapped up its activities on Wednesday in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
The Jordanian delegation was led by Saad Lozi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, accompanied by Jordanian Ambassador to Qatar, Zaid Lozi, and representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Egypt, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
At the forum's conclusion, Dr. Ali Al-Marri, the Qatari Minister of Labor and Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking, underscored the fact that human trafficking has evolved into a global phenomenon that threatens societies and poses a significant challenge to the international community's pursuit of development and prosperity.
Dr. Al-Marri noted that the forum was designed to foster dialogue among national stakeholders, regional partners, and international organizations, aiming to exchange information, facilitate consultation and joint dialogue, and share best practices in protecting workers from human trafficking, given the growing importance of this issue amid its associated challenges.
Throughout the forum's discussion sessions, participants explored a variety of topics, challenges, and developments related to countering human trafficking in the Middle East, exchanging relevant experiences and best practices, and discussing ways to enhance and develop the skills of professionals working in the field of combating human trafficking.
