King Hussein's advisor, Royal Court Chief Amer Khammash dies

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Retired Lieutenant General Amer Khammash, who was late King Hussein's advisor and former Chief of Royal Court, died Saturday at the age of 85.
LtGen Khammash had an extensive career in the service of the country, taking part in many battles, and was Chief of the General Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) during Al Karamah battle on March 21, 1968.
In 1950, and after graduation from the British Air Force, Khammash became the first Jordanian officially recognized pilot.
In 1958, he was the first Jordanian officer to be sent to the Fort Leavenworth Command and General Staff College in Kansas.
After retiring from the Chief of the General Staff of JAF position, Khammash was appointed Minister of Defense under the Abdul Mun'im Rifai's government, and Minister of Defense and transportation during the Bahjat Talhouni government.
Late King Hussein had appointed Khammash in several high-ranking posts including Chief of the Royal Court twice, Senator for five terms, Special Representative, political advisor, and personal advisor to Late King Hussein.
