Ammon News - Pope Francis expressed his appreciation and gratitude to His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein for his concern for Christian communities throughout the Middle East, particularly in times marked by conflict and violence.
Pope Francis praised His Majesty the King during a meeting with the participants in the sixth Colloquium between the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue and the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies in Amman.
"His Majesty does not tire of repeating that the Christians of those blessed lands are natives, meaning they live where their ancestors lived for long centuries", the Pope said.
He pointed out that the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies, which was established in 1994 in Amman under the auspices of Prince Hassan bin Talal, aims to preserve the Arab Christian heritage.
In this regard, I can but express further gratitude, because this not only benefits the Christian citizens of yesterday and today, but also protects and consolidates this heritage throughout the Middle East, so diverse and rich in ethnicities, religions, cultures, languages and traditions, the Pope added.
