Ammon News - The Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and ambassadors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have agreed to begin preparations to hold a Jordanian-Asian economic meeting in the current year, which will include a business forum and an exhibition of products.
According to an ACC statement on Wednesday, the two sides also agreed to hold bilateral meetings for business owners, industrialists and merchants in ASEAN countries with their Jordanian counterparts and to address the Union of Arab Chambers through the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) to invite members of the chambers of commerce and industry from different Arab countries, especially Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, Yemen and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council to participate in the forum.
They also stressed the importance of focusing on the inbound and outbound tourism sector as a main driver for enhancing economic exchange between Jordan and ASEAN countries and cooperation and coordination between the ACC and the tourism sector's stakeholders with their counterparts in the ASEAN countries.
The two sides agreed to follow up on communication between merchants, service providers and business owners in the Kingdom, increase their visits to the ASEAN countries to participate in exhibitions, conferences and forums and circulate data on investment opportunities available in ASEAN countries.
In turn, Thai Ambassador Supark Prongthura, who is also the current head of the ASEAN in Jordan, underscored the distinguished relations between the ASEAN countries and the Kingdom at various levels and the commitment of His Majesty King Abdullah II to strengthen them through communication with their leaders and ongoing visits.
He also underlined the ASEAN countries' commitment to strengthening and developing relations with Jordan, especially in the trade and investment areas.
