Ammon News - The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) and the American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) signed an agreement on Sunday to distribute food coupons and meals during the current holy month of Ramadan.

The campaign is handing out vouchers for 400 families that can be spent in the Military Consumer Corporation's branches spread throughout the Kingdom, said a JHCO statement.

A total of 5,250 hot iftar meals will be distributed in coordination with JHCO's local charity partners to families in their homes or the partners' headquarters, added the statement.

JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Al Shibli said the initiative seeks to alleviate financial burdens on low-income families, especially during Ramadan, when expenses are doubled.

ANERA's representative in Jordan Carina Aoun said the agreement aims to enable vulnerable families to meet their urgent basic needs, especially with the increasing population, adding that ANERA has expanded its efforts to provide hot meals and food vouchers to Palestinian and Syrian refugees in addition to Jordanian host communities.
