Ammon News - The regional representative of the Jordan office for Hanss Seidel Foundation, Kristof W. Duwaerts, Friday said, "Jordan is witnessing remarkable development in the political modernisation system and is moving towards the goals set to enhance the role of youth and women in partisan and political participation."

In an interview with the Jordan News Agency, Duwaerts said modern Jordanian legislation allows young Jordanians to actively participate in partisan and political life and move civil society towards drawing the contours of the future it wants and facing challenges.

He added that the goals of Hanss Seidel are in tandem with the objectives of the Jordanian government in increasing and strengthening the participation of women and youth in public work, adding that this would be through programmes implemented by the Foundation in partnership with the government and governmental and CSOs.

He noted that the Foundation sought to achieve the recommendations of the Royal Commission to reform the political system since it established several programmes and projects to educate Jordanians about the new partisan laws and the need to participate in decision-making and policies.

He said the Foundation supported the training of 4,500 public officials and active youth on good governance, Integrity and combating corruption.

Duwaerts noted that the Foundation would launch the "She Can" project next month. It aims to create and establish a national pressure platform for women defenders of remote areas in Jordan.
