Ammon News - Minister of Tourism, Makram Qaisi, said the first phase of the data analytics dashboard project for Jordan's tourism sector is completed, which was developed with funding from European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The project was carried out, in cooperation between World Tourism Organization (WTO)'s experts, and Ministry of Tourism, as part of the project to facilitate the recovery of tourism after the Covid-19 pandemic in Jordan, he added.
The dashboard features the main indicators of the Kingdom's tourism sector, primarily foreign visitors and their spending, tourist accommodation establishments, attractions, sector employment figures, and domestic tourist programe, "Urdunna Janna" program, according to a ministry statement.
During the launching ceremony, Qaisi noted the project aims to follow up on progress made to achieve set goals and provide comprehensive data for the Jordanian tourism market.
In addition, he noted the newly-launched dashboard figures and statistics will enable decision-makers to learn about flaws and successes, and thus facilitate their planning process. It will also serve the ministry partners in all sectors of the tourism industry, researchers, scholars, donors, and investors.
The dashboard, he said, will facilitate access to Jordan's tourism sector figures in a "practical" way, and network these numbers and outcomes with the executive program of Economic Modernization Vision's priorities 2023-2025, adding that the new database falls under the axis of the ministry's reforms and automation plans.
