Ammon News - Qatar said Friday that it would support the Jordanian initiative to be launched in Syria, which is based on a direct Arab role that engages with the Syrian government in a political dialogue aimed at resolving the crisis and addressing its humanitarian, security and political impacts.

"Qatar supports all initiatives aimed at finding comprehensive peace in Syria, and supports all Arab and international efforts in this regard," the Qatar News Agency (QNA) cited spokesperson of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majid bin Mohammad al-Ansari, as saying.

He pointed out that there are many initiatives that have been launched and that Qatar is involved in many of them aimed primarily at achieving the aspirations of the Syrian people.

He explained that the Qatari position on the Syrian crisis depends on two main determinants. The first is that the regime fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people for a political solution and according to the Geneva 1 statement, and the second is the Arab consensus on these moves.

On the other hand, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Israeli Minister of Finance statements, in which he denied the existence of the Palestinian people, and used a map of Israel that includes the borders of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the occupied Palestinian territories, and said that this act is a flagrant violation of international norms and covenants.

It urged the international community to assume its responsibilities and oblige Israel to respect the international legitimacy resolutions, while stressing Qatar's firm position on the justice of the Palestinian cause, the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and the establishment of its independent state on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
