Ammon News - Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths, Tuesday discussed the situation in Syria, help for victims of recent earthquakes and dwindling international aid for Syrian refugees and host countries.
Safadi said the UN official that the Kingdom continues to extend a helping hand and dispatch relief aid to the brothers in Syria and Turkiye in the aftermath of the earthquakes that struck the two countries last month.
The Foreign Minister also briefed the UN coordinator on challenges facing the Kingdom in hosting refugees, urging the international community to live up to its obligations towards them.
He also commended efforts by the United Nations to ensure aid is delivered to quake-stricken areas, welcoming a Syrian government decision to open border crossings with Turkiye, which facilitated the delivery of aid.
Griffiths commended Jordan's efforts in hosting refugees and providing aid to earthquake victims in both Syria and Turkiye.
