Ammon News - Cristiano Ronaldo returned to scoring form with a 35-yard free kick as Al Nassr defeated Abha in Saudi Arabia.

Al Nassr and their Portuguese star left it late to defeat lower table Abha in the Mrsool Park stadium in Riyadh.

Abha took the lead in the 26th minute through an Abdulfattah Adam Ahmad Mohammed goal.

But Ronaldo showed why he is the biggest earner in world football, with a stunning free kick in the 78th minute.

35 yards out and behind a wall of players wasn’t enough to stop the former Man Utd footballing icon, who curled a powerful shot into the bottom corner.

A clearly delighted Ronaldo celebrated wildly with teammates and Al Nassr’s home support.

The game’s biggest surprise came less than 10 minutes later, when Al Nassr were awarded a penalty and the reported $214m a year man was not the one lining up to take the spot kick.

The honour, instead, went to Al Nassr’s top scorer, Brazilian striker Talisca.

With Ronaldo watching on, the Al Nassr hero slotted home confidently to secure the 2-1 win for Al Nassr.

Meanwhile top-of-the-table rivals Al Ittihad won their match earlier in the day.

With both teams winning, there remains just a single points difference between the two, with Al Ittihad a point ahead with nine games remaining.

Al Nassr and Al Ittihad faced off last week, with the Jeddah-based side claiming victory.

The Saudi Pro League now takes a break for international football. Ronaldo and Al Nassr will next play on April 4 against Al Adalah.
