Ammon News - King Charles has a bone to pick with the King’s Guard.

The 74-year-old monarch has ordered the troops to quiet down, complaining the Changing the Guard ceremony has been too noisy, distracting him from his state business, according to a leaked memo from King Charles’ equerry’s office obtained by The Sun.

“His Majesty remarked the other day how loud the outgoing sentries were at St James’s Palace in the morning,” the note reportedly said.

“Full marks for vigour and volume, but please could you pass down to those on guard that Clarence House is a residence and so some volume control would be very much appreciated by those inside!”

Charles, who is known to rise early, reportedly struggles to accomplish any work inside Clarence House while the troops barked orders outside his windows.

The bearskin and red tunic-clad guards that have protected the royals since 1660 march in and out of sentry positions around the royal palaces.

The King and Queen Consort Camilla have lived in Clarence House since 2003. In a break of tradition, he opted to stay at the home when he ascended to the throne last year instead of moving into Buckingham Palace, located just a short walk away.

Following King Charles’ complaint, an army officer told the guard commanders: “Please could you pass onto your troops that when posting sentries first thing in the morning at St James’s Palace that they should do so at a slightly lower volume.”

The grievance comes as Charles prepares for his historic Coronation, which will make several breaks from tradition, according to the palace.

The drama surrounding the possible attendance of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be an additional stressor for the monarch, who decided his youngest son will play no part in the event.

Sources told The Sun that the plea is understood to be a “gentle request” and is in no way complaining about the troops’ behavior.

The troops could pick the volume back up when the King is confirmed to be out of Clarence House.
