Ammon News - The city of Aqaba has been featured on Time magazine's prestigious "World's Greatest Places of 2023" list, published on their website Thursday. The coastal gem was celebrated as one of the top "50 extraordinary destinations to explore" this year.

Time magazine lauded Aqaba's landscapes as "otherworldly" and "extraordinarily dramatic". Her Majesty Queen Rania highlighted the city's inclusion on the list, sharing the article on Twitter and inviting readers to "Find out why Aqaba, Jordan is on TIME’s 2023 list of the World's Greatest Places."

Marine offerings

Aqaba is not only attracting attention for its stunning dunes, but also for its marine offerings, said Time magazine. The Gulf of Aqaba's Marine Park aims to preserve the area's diverse marine biosphere, which includes coral reefs, 19 dive sites, and underwater walking experiences. Glass-bottom boat tours also offer visitors an opportunity to explore the park without getting wet, it added.

"The Port of Aqaba anticipates a 25 percent increase in passenger ships for 2023, including an inaugural visit from luxury cruise line Windstar. From the mega ships of MSC Cruises to superyacht Emerald Azzurra, sailing the Middle East demands a part of call at the tip of the Red Sea where four countries meet," said the article.

Time magazine compiled their "World's Greatest Places" list by soliciting nominations from their international network of correspondents and contributors, with a focus on destinations offering new and exciting experiences.
