Ammon News - Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Thursday, attended the opening ceremony of "Jordan Shield FTX23" exercise, at the Jordan Armed Forces Hotel, in the presence of the US Ambassador to Jordan, Henry Wooster.

Addressing the audience, JAF director for planning, organization and defense resources, Brig. Gen. Yousef Khatib, said: "Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) - Arab Army is keen to raise national capabilities in dealing with hazardous materials incidents, in cooperation with Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), in cooperation with Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Colorado National Guard (CONG) and Defense Threat Reduction Office at US Embassy in Amman (DTRO), under US-Jordanian Program to Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction."

Khatib also said the Kingdom's valued United States' continuous support through joint cooperation programs in various fields.

For his part, Wooster said U.S. trusts the Kingdom's capabilities to respond to crises, referring to Jordan's successes achieved in establishing field hospitals during Covid-19 pandemic, its response to the chemical incident in Aqaba, and efforts to deter smugglers from crossing its borders.

Meanwhile, Director of Training and Rehabilitation at National Centre for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) , Riad Krishan, indicated that this exercise simulates a scenario of complex crises, and the state's capability to work jointly to face simultaneous emergencies and curbing their impacts, aimed to developing and updating the result-based national plan.
