24th Japanese Language Speech Contest in Jordan

Ammon News - On 6 February, the Embassy of Japan in Jordan, together with the University of Jordan, hosted the 24th Japanese Language Speech Contest, where the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Dr. Nahed Suleiman Emaish, the Ambassador of Japan to Jordan, Mr. Okuyama Jiro, and the Senior Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Jordan, Mr. Kawatani Nobuhiro, attended.

The contest aims not only to provide Jordanian students studying the Japanese language with a valuable opportunity to showcase their learning achievements but also to introduce aspects of Japanese culture to the audience. At the opening ceremony, the performance of Koto (a Japanese musical instrument) was conducted.

The contest was divided into two sessions. In the first session, each contestant gave a presentation about his/her favorite Japanese song. Ms. Reina Habaibeh was awarded the first prize and Ms. Ayah Alsadawi the second prize.

In the second session, the participants presented their favorite Japanese proverb. Mr. Mohammad Alqirem and Ms. Safiya Alsharif won the first and second place respectively.

Ms. Alaa Tariq was awarded a prize from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Ms. Rawan Naoush was awarded a prize from the Japanese Community Association in Jordan, and Mr. Rakan Al-Hunaiti was awarded a prize from the Ambassador of Japan to Jordan. The event was attended by Japanese and Jordanian guests from various backgrounds.
