Rainy weather, snow showers are expected at night

Ammon News - A chilly and wet air mass is forecast to bring additional precipitation across the Kingdom later on Wednesday, with limited snowfall expected in the country's southern mountain range.

The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said downpours are expected in the northern and central regions of the country

Heavy rain will spread to other areas in the afternoon, causing flash floods in valleys and lowlands, including the Dead Sea, according to the JMD. Winds will be westerly active, with gusts exceeding 70 kilometers per hour in some areas and blowing dust in the Badia.

The high mountain peaks that are 1100 meters above sea level, including the Al-Sharah mountain range, are also predicted to receive snow showers.

Additionally, the weather service issued alerts about flash floods, strong winds, slick roads, and poor horizontal visibility in the Badia and the highlands due to dust and dense fog.

On Thursday, similar cold and rainy weather is expected with a chance of snow flurries over the southern high peaks of the Al-Sharah mountain range. Northwesterly winds will be brisk with strong gusts.

Temperatures in the capital Amman today will range between a high of 10 degrees Celsius and a low of 2C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 21C, sliding to 11C at night.
