Ammon News - The Jordanian parliamentary delegates in Algiers Monday said that cooperation with Algeria-based companies in health and energy is "promising".
The Jordanian MPs, who are in Algiers to attend the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit, held two separate meetings with Algeria-based oil and gas drilling companies and the Algerian Health Minister, Abdelhak Sayhi, and agreed to bolster cooperation in health.
Sayhi said that his country is mulling over signing an agreement with the Jordanian government on health cooperation in May.
During a meeting with the director of the national state-owned Sonatrach oil company, Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi and the MPs noted the "importance" of realising Jordanian cooperation in energy, especially gas, and leveraging Algeria's experience.
In turn, Sonatrach Director Tawfiq Hakkar said that the company has "large" investments in Algeria and abroad, adding that the company owns 100 rigs that can excavate at a depth that is "second" in the world.
He said that Algiers is keen to cooperate with Jordan in energy and to provide all experiences and capabilities that boost bilateral relations.
During the meeting with the Algerian health minister, MP Farid Haddad presented encouraging investment opportunities in health in Jordan, adding that the kingdom's medical staff are "highly qualified."
