Ammon News - The world's largest floating library, Logos Hope, is scheduled to moor the shore of Aqaba from January 25 to February 16.
The vessel, which houses 4,000 books on various scientific, literary, and intellectual topics, will open its doors on January 26, selling books at low prices and giving away souvenirs such as bags, cups, pens, medals, and bracelets.
Logos Hope's sister, Doulos, docked in Aqaba in 2005 and welcomed around 33,000 visitors, said Logos Hope project Manager in Jordan Jabulani Mlambo on Monday, expecting a turnout of 60,000 people this time.
Mlambo said the 132-meter ship, managed by a German non-profit organization, aims to spread "knowledge and hope" in each port it visits. It chose Port Said as its first destination in the new year, and the second location will be Aqaba, he added.
He noted the ship visited more than 480 ports in 150 countries worldwide, receiving some 49 million book enthusiasts over 13 years.
